As far as the eye can see...SOAP

Once upon a time there was a beautiful dining room in a lovely old home. Friends and family gathered for holiday meals & special occasions. While it wasn't used all the time, it was a lovely place to entertain...and then came SOAP.

It started with a few bars curing on the dining room table because it was an out of the way place and not used all that often. Before you could say "saponify" the 8 foot table became "the curing spot"

Next came: The Invasion of the Fragrance & Essential Oils! As we search for the perfect blend, the perfect scent
those innocent brown bottles multiply while we sleep! Those who soap know...the rest of the story. Oils, butters, lye, dried botanicals, loofahs , shrink wrap, raffia, impulse sealers: the list goes on and on. And before you know it: The Invasion is complete! The lovely dining room has been transformed into: THE SOAP ROOM

In an attempt to once again enjoy gathering with family & friends I am attempting to regain the use of my dining room. As we speak, the upstairs of the barn is being tranformed into the studio & soap kitchen. The large downstairs room is being fitted with a pellet stove & thermopane windows. A beautiful pine floor has been laid and is just waiting to be stained.
With help ( and prayers) the soapy takeover will be soon be over. My family will never again hear those dreaded words;" You CAN"T eat, I'm soaping" Stay tuned for the next segment of: "As far as the eye can see...soap"

  2. Cute post! I get that same complaint a lot when my fabric spills over...What do you mean Dining table? It is a crafting table!
People were meant to eat in the kitchend balancing plates of food on their knees. LOL

  3. Very nice post! I enjoyed that : ) Reminds me of when I had craft sales or when I have a special crafting project going...the dining room becomes a production area and it does take a lot of time to get it back to its 'original' intended purpose. I tend to agree with germandolls that 'It is a crafting table'.
Great pictures of your work there LynneAnne...looking forward to the next segment.
    Blessings,
    Doreen : )

  4. Cute post! Your family is lucky... my "craft room" covers the dining room, the future nursery, the guest bedroom, the garage, and my coffee table in the living room... still trying to stuff it all into one room :)

  6. Haha! That is a funny post!

I know what you mean, though, because the same thing happens to my dining room when I'm letting paintings dry. Can't use it most of the time!

  7. Oh, but the dining room works so well as the soap room! Are you sure you don't want to convert the upstairs of the barn to a dining room instead? ;D

  8. Thanks to all of you folks who posted. Its comforting to know that I'm not the only one being run out of my house by my "stuff"!
Thats about 200 bars of soap out curing with another 200 ready to take their places once they are wrapped and labeled. Tis the season!!

  9. Same here! My hubby is always on me to clean up my crafting supplies from the kitchen counter or the dinning room table. The table is the only place i have to use the sewing machine. I wish I could have my own craft room like my mom.
